What is an Independent Financial Advisor?

An IFA is an independent financial adviser. To be classed as independent, an IFA must have passed a number of specific exams and be able to advise you on all the products available in the market, not just the ones sold by a certain company or group of companies. Being independent also means that you can advise on a range of financial products and not just a certain type, such as only mortgages or investments.
